Franklin Public Library Winter Weather Information
Franklin Public Library will be open and available as a warming center on Friday, January 23 and Saturday, January 24. However, all library programs those days have been cancelled.

Items on hold with a pickup date of this weekend will not be removed from the holdshelf. This will allow you a couple of extra days to come in and pick up your holds.

If you have library materials due this weekend, we will be extending the grace period through Tuesday.

Join us for Cowboys: An American Symbol with Dr. Diana Ahmad on Wed., Jan. 28 at 6:30pm.

Cowboys remain the most enduring image of the nineteenth century American West. Learn how stories from the Old West contributed to the iconography and part of the creation story of the United States.

Dr. Diana Ahmad is a Curators’ Distinguished Teaching Professor Emerita specializing in the history of the American West at the Missouri University of Science and Technology.

Classic Movie Matinee -- Romeo & Juliet
Join us Thurs., Feb. 5 at 1pm for the Classic Movie Matinee showing of Romeo & Juliet.

From 1968, this lush adaptation of Shakespeare’s romantic tragedy tells the tale of Romeo and Juliet, teenaged star-crossed young lovers in 14th century Verona, Italy. After meeting at a masquerade ball one evening, Romeo and Juliet fall instantly in love. They try to surmount the obstacles to their romance, but the bitter feud between their families proves to be too strong, and their story ends with tragic consequences.
